Learn about extreme weather on Mount Washington
The Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries will be hosting a virtual presentation on Thursday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. about climate data from the Mount Washington Observatory, home of the world’s worst weather.
Brian Fitzgerald, Mount Washington Observatory’s Director of Science and Education, will discuss the observatory’s climate data, what’s changed on the summit and how it reflects global climate trends.
Situated atop the 6,288-foot summit of Mount Washington, the nonprofit observatory operates a weather station that has been gathering data around the clock since 1932, amassing one of North America’s longest-running climate records.
Known as the “Home of the World’s Worst Weather,” Mount Washington holds the record for highest measured wind speed not associated with a tornado or tropical cyclone.
