Town clerk’s office ready for election season
Election season kicks off in a little over a month and Town Clerk Sarah Arruda is reminding voters that now is the time to start requesting mail-in ballots.
According to Arruda, application postcards from the Secretary of State’s office have been mailed out to most Dartmouth residents in advance of the Sept. 6 primary.
When returning the applications to the clerk’s office, residents should mark whether they are voting for Republicans or Democrats.
“It’s required by law that you pick one,” Arruda said. “We just want to make sure that people are filling them out correctly or they’re not going to get a ballot for the primary.”
Those who wish to vote in person can do so early at Town Hall from Aug. 27 to Sept. 2.
On Election Day, precincts will be open in Dartmouth from 7 a.m. from 8 p.m. The deadline to register to vote is Saturday, Aug. 27.
The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
