Here’s what the Council on Aging has planned for March

March is just around the corner, and the Dartmouth Council on Aging will be hosting a full schedule of events/activities.

Here’s what’s coming up next month:

Senior supper club

This will be held Tuesday, March 7 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Cost is $5 in advance.

Technology classes

The center will hold workshops on all things iPhone.

The workshops will be held Friday, March 10 and 17 at 1 p.m.

Cost is $5 per workshop. Registration is required. 

St Patrick’s Day Dinner 

The Irish meal will be held on Monday, March 13 and will feature the Tony Martin Trio.

The cost is $15 and registration is required.

Medicare Advantage presentation

At 1 p.m. on March 8, learn about Medicare Advantage plans and how they work before the enrollment period ends on March 31. Registration is required.

Popcorn and a movie

This month’s selected showing is the 2022 film “Rescued by Ruby,” starring Grant Gustin and Scott Wolf.

This free screening will be held Wednesday, March 29 at 1 p.m. Registration is required. 

Pet “Preparedness”

Sandra Gosselin from Dartmouth Animal Control will give a presentation on how to navigate pet ownership should you need to go to the hospital unexpectedly or be away for an extended period. 

The presentation will be held at 1 p.m. on March 16. Registration is required.

Humane Society and Shelter South Coast

Humane Society Director Melinda Ventura will give a presentation about the Humane Society’s services and programs. Free pet sweaters will be available.

Cooking Demo with the Cedars

At 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, the Council on Aging will host a cooking demonstration. Call the center for more information. Registration is required.

Pop-up art

From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, March 24, sculpt your own clay succulent and potted cactus at the Maria Connor Center for Active Living. Registration is required.

Art for Your Mind

At 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, learn to appreciate animals in art. Registration is required.

Open studio art class

Work on projects with other artists and get instruction on an as needed basis. Classes will be held Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and noon. Cost is $10.00.  Walk-ins are welcome.

Parkinson’s support group

Meetings will be held the second Tuesday of the month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.

Gentle yoga with Vicki Smith

Classes will be held on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $5.

Line dancing with Christina 

Classes include instruction on a variety of genres of music. No experience is needed. 

Sessions will be held Fridays at 1 p.m.  Cost is $3. Walk-ins are welcome 

Coffee Hour 

This is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.

Acoustic jam session

Do you love music, play an instrument, or love to sing? Join this free, informal group on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.to share songs and sounds. Walk-ins are welcome.

Meditation with Lynda

Sessions, which are free, will be held Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m.

Walk-ins are welcome.

Visiting dental hygienist clinic

Blood pressure clinic 

This will be held the last Tuesday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.

Walk-ins are welcome.

Free pain consultations 

This clinic hosted by Baystate Physical Therapy will be held the third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. The clinic is by appointment only.

Hearing clinic

Hosted by At Home Healthcare, hearing evaluations and hearing aid checks will be held the third Thursday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The clinic by appointment only.

Grief Support

The YWCA Widow Person Program will meet at the Center the first and third Thursday of the month. Attendees can attend a meeting that runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to noon.
