Here’s what the Council on Aging has planned for October
The Council on Aging will host "Single Senior Supper Club" on Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m, at a cost of $5. Participants should register beforehand with the COA.
Instructional Chess will be held on Oct. 5, 19 and 25. Each class is $5.00 and walk-ins are welcome.
Do you have time to ‘spare’? Lawn bowling lessons will take place at Hazelwood on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Call center for more information.
Free Passport to Retirement classes will be held on Oct. 10, Nov. 17 and Dec. 5. Registration is required.
Oil painting classes with Artist Ryan Santos on Mondays will start Oct. 16 and end Nov. 20. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost to attend is $60.00 and pre-registration is required.
An instructional lesson on setting up and navigating SSA.gov accounts will be held on Oct. 11 at 1:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required, and if you have a Medicare Card you should bring it.
Do you love a good sitcom? Pop culture historian and author, Marty Gitlin is hosting a sitcom event that will include rankings, sitcom clips, and trivia. The event will be held on Oct. 19 at 1:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
Does technology confuse you? Come to an educational I-Phone Class on Oct. 20 and 27. The cost is $5.00 and pre-registration is required.
Southcoast EMS/STAT will hold a hands on CPR class. This event is open to all ages. No certification will be earned and pre-registration is required.
A presentation on MassHealth, Medicare and other public benefits will be held on Oct. 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. People of all ages are welcome and pre-registration is required.
A Halloween costume party will be held on Oct. 30 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch and entertainment will be provided. The cost to attend is $6.00 and pre-registration is required.
Need to loosen up a little? Coordination and Flexibility classes for those with movement challenged bodies will take place Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The classes are free and walk-ins are welcome.
Book club will take place on the second Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. The Oct. book of the month is “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.” Walk-ins are welcome.
Looking for some music to your ears? Acoustic jam sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Bring your vocal chords or instrument, spectators are welcome.
A showing of the movie “Air” will be held Oct. 25 at 1:00 p.m. This event is free and pre-registration is required.

Restorative Yoga takes place on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $5.00, and you should call to pre-register.
Are you a big sewer? Come help create, cut and sew clothing for Cape Verde on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Instructions, fabric and machines will be provided. Walk-ins are welcome.
Free coffee will be available Tuesdays and Thursdasy from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. during Coffee Hour.
“Meditation with Lynda” meditation classes are held Tuesdays from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Thursdays 9:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Walk-ins are welcome and the classes are free.
Walk in Blood Pressure Clinics take place on the second Thursday and the last Tuesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Parkinson’s Support Groups are available on the second Thursday of each month from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please call the Center for additional information.
