Anne Katherine (Dennehy) O'Hara, 96
Surrounded at home by members of her loving family, the wonderful life of Anne Katherine (Dennehy) O'Hara came to a close on October 19, 2024 in her 96th year. She was the widow of Arthur Michael O'Hara who died in 1984. She is survived by her devoted only child, Karen O'Hara Young, and her husband, William P. Young, of South Dartmouth. "Grammy" was also survived by her cherished grandchildren, William M., John P., and Michael J. Young, and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Anne was born in Milton on May 19, 1928 and raised there by her parents, John Anthony Dennehy and Anna Margaret Barry. She was a 1946 graduate of Milton High School. She had six siblings, all of whom predeceased her: Mary ("Molly"), Alice ("Sister"), and John A. ("Jack") Dennehy, Jr., Phyllis C. Punch, Arlene F. Whalen and Helen P. Keady.
Anne and her husband moved from the Boston area to New Bedford in 1960. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a legal receptionist. She was a member of the Country Club of New Bedford and enjoyed playing golf into her 90s. She played an integral role in raising her grandchildren.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday October 26th at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
