Resident supports local cause and car fanatics with rare Model T

WAREHAM — As the oldies played and car-fanatics gathered in the Elks Lodge parking lot, a Dartmouth resident was showing off his favorite set of wheels: a rare 1926 Model T.

An array of cars were on display by the Downshifters Car Club, who were aiming to help raise money for Cleanup of Agawam Pond, at their annual Car & Motorcycle show on Saturday, July 12 in Wareham.

Among the cars, with the top ten cars and top three motorcycles from the show given awards, was a bright orange Model T owned by Dartmouth’s Joseph G Costa.

From 1926, the Model T Tudor Runabout, named T Bones, was formerly a decoration in front of a restaurant in Vermont.

T Bones has been a dream for Costa to own.

"It's got the qualities that I've always wanted," he said. "I traded another car for it that was complete and took a loss. But I wanted to finish this up because it had the original VIN number, original body and it's pretty rare."

Costa said he drives T Bones everywhere.

"The way it takes corners it's like a cat," he said. "It's better than a Corvette."
