Olde Dartmouth 250 to hold its second meeting
The Olde Dartmouth 250 will be holding its second meeting on Friday, Sept. 26 from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Wamsutta Club in the James Arnold Mansion, located at 427 County Street in New Bedford.
During the meeting they will be sharing information on 250 plans and establishing a process to integrate plans by communities outside of Olde Dartmouth.
They will also be having community readings and discussing plans for the 250th anniversary signing of the Declaration of Independence, preliminary plans for the 250th commemoration of the 1778 British Raid of Bedford Village and Environs and planning for the Arbor day commemoration of late April 2026.

Saturday, Sept. 27
A grave matter
TNT Gravestone Solutions will be holding an open meeting to discuss their ongoing restoration of the John Davis Cemetery.
The meeting will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the rain date being Sept. 28. The cemetery is located next to the La-Z-Boy on 110 Faunce Corner Road.
Music in the woods
While you walk along the Lloyd Center for the Environment trails, listen to local music at the 5th Annual Music in the Woods event on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The center encourages that guests dress to protect themselves from the sun, ticks and poison ivy. They will have a limited number of long-sleeve shirts available for purchase at the event.
Registration is free for center members, and $50 per carload for non-members. The rain date for the event is Sunday, Sept. 28. The event will be held at the Lloyd Center trails at 430 Potomska Road.
Ready to read
Children in grades six through eight are invited to participate in the first meeting of Ready Player Read Book Club. The club reads and discusses juvenile fiction together.
The first meeting will be on Saturday, Sept. 27 starting at 3 p.m. and will run 30 to 45 minutes. Kids will read and discuss “The Science of Friendship” by Tanita S. Davis.
Kids can pick up books for the book club at the Dartmouth Public Library at 211 Cross Road.

Tuesday, Sept. 30
Constitutional writes
Experience what it was like to be a founding father by writing the constitution out by hand at the North Branch Library on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Notebooks and copies of the Constitution will be provided, but guests must bring their own writing tool. Guests can stay and write for the full two hours or as short as preferred.
This event is free and registration is not required. The North Branch Library is located at 211 Cross Road.
Last day to register for the Duck Derby
The last day to sign up as a sponsor for the annual Duck Derby is Sept. 30.
The sponsor of winning duckies can win one of many prizes; a feast at Stone Barn, a gourmet picnic with Drumlin Farm animals, an osprey watching tour and picnic, a Mass Audubon family membership or a swag bag.
Sponsorship sign ups are open through Sept. 30 at 11:59 p.m. at massaudubon.org.
