Carl Gregory of Dartmouth passed away on November 12, 2020 from complications related to Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. He is the beloved husband of 58 years to Alberta (Holt) Gregory. Carl was born on July 9, 1940 in New Bedford to Clarence and Ethel (Chapman) Gregory.

As the owners of Carl’s Paint and Wallpaper for 27 years, Carl and Alberta were partners in life and in business.

Carl was a 1958 graduate of the carpentry program at New Bedford Vocational High School. He loved boating and spent many weekends with friends and family on Cuttyhunk and Martha’s Vineyard.

He enjoyed dining at his favorite restaurants including Twin Oaks in Cranston, RI as well as cooking his famous clamboils and other specialties for friends. His sense of humor and respect for others made him an ideal friend.

He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and was so proud of his one share of stock!

In his earlier years, Carl enjoyed scuba diving and playing tennis. He was fascinated with military history. Unable to serve in the military himself, Carl had the utmost pride and admiration for those who fought and continue to fight for our country.

Carl is survived by his wife Alberta, two daughters, Susan Hebert, and her husband Michael of S. Glastonbury CT, and Jill Grochmal and her husband David of New Bedford, his granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kristin Hebert who were his pride and joy, his brother Paul, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog Chucky.

We would like to thank the caring staff and hospice team in the Alden dementia unit at Plymouth Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
