Dartmouth Lions Club installs new officers
On June 22, the Dartmouth and Fairhaven Lions Clubs hosted an installation ceremony at the Peking Garden Buffet for incoming officers. Current District Governor Roland Grenier conducted the ceremony.
Wayne Vandal—a 20-year member of the Dartmouth Lions Club—was re-elected as the club president for 2017.
Skip Becotte was elected to serve as the club secretary, while the vice president will be Peter Vieira Jr. and the treasurer is now Justin Marcoux.
Vandal said, “I am looking forward to being the president in this—our 100th year of service and to leading various projects—and continuing the Dartmouth Lion Club’s commitment to serving the community.”
The Dartmouth Lions Club meets on the third Thursday of every month at the State Police Barracks at 265 Faunce Corner Road at 7 p.m.
Since the club’s chartering in 2008 its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as an Arbor Day tree planting and Earth Day clean up projects.
Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone to the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, and other causes to which the club has contributed. The club anticipates establishing a program with the Dartmouth school system to engage children into multiple projects for all age groups.
Lions clubs are men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. For more information or to get involved with the Dartmouth Lions Club, please contact Wayne Vandal at (774) 929-7352 or by email at dartmouthlions@comcast.net.
