Dartmouth Police to grow beards, raise money for Children’s Advocacy Center

Oct 23, 2018

Things are getting hairy at the Dartmouth Police Department, as officers are putting down the razor blades for a good cause.

The department is participating in No Shave November, an annual fundraising event in which participants grow their beards out to grow the bank of local nonprofits.

Detective Kyle Costa said the department’s goal is to raise as much money as possible for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County, which provides services to children who have been abused or have witnessed violence. The Center also helps adults with intellectual disabilities. The organization has served more than 5,600 children and families.

So far, 15 officers have signed up and committed to a month of no shaving. Donations can be made in the name of an individual officer or the organization as a whole. The goal is to raise at least $5,000.

To donate, go to www.cacofbc.org/no-shave-november and click “Setup Fundraising Page.” Donors can choose to donate on behalf of a specific officer or to the campaign overall.
