It was a shot seen ‘round the country.

Time was waning in the first quarter on Nov. 3 as the Dartmouth High unified basketball team took on Middleboro in the Carlin Lynch Activity Center.

With just seconds to go in the period, Dartmouth’s Austin Santos got the ball away from a Middleboro player, turned around, and fired a buzzer-beater shot from half court that ended up being nothing but net.

As soon as the ball went through the hoop, the whole gym — including the Middleboro players and supporters — erupted with cheers and applause for the feat.

The shot was so miraculous that it even appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter as one of the day’s top 10 plays.
