DHS senior will not appear on the School Committee ballot due to ineligible nomination signatures
Mackenzie Boucher, the Dartmouth High School senior that submitted nomination papers for the upcoming School Committee race, will not be on the April 2 ballot. Of the 54 signatures she submitted, 10 were either not registered voters or had incomplete information.
In lieu of an official nomination, Boucher will be pursuing a write-in campaign for Shannon Jenkins soon-to-be vacant seat.
“This does not deter my efforts for running, only motivates them more,” Boucher said in an email. The graduating student will increase her level of door-to-door campaigning to make up for the news.
Boucher, who also serves as the editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, previously said she chose to run to represent the perspective of the student.
“I really think there does need to be that perspective on the School Committee,” she said.
Without Boucher’s nomination, the official School Committee ballot will list only Kyle Ross and Mary Beckwith.
