Dartmouth grad launches diesel tech career through apprentice program

Aiden Andre, a recent graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School and Dartmouth resident, is shifting gears from student to full-time diesel technician apprentice after being offered a spot in Advantage Truck Group’s paid apprentice program.

Andre began working at the group’s Raynham location as part of the school’s cooperative education program, which gives students real-world experience in their chosen trade. His performance as a co-op student led to an offer to continue with the company through its full-time training program.

“I’m confident that the hard work and commitment he displayed as a co-op will help him be successful as he takes this next step in his career,” said Christopher Pentedemos, the group’s vice president of network operations.

As an apprentice, Andre will receive hands-on mentorship from certified technicians while completing a blend of lab, classroom and online training. The program includes manufacturer-specific training and the opportunity to earn professional certifications, with pay increases as milestones are met.

The group’s apprentice program is part of a broader effort to address the growing need for skilled diesel technicians, a demand driven by labor shortages across the trucking and heavy equipment industries.

“There’s a shortage of qualified technicians throughout the industry, and it’s important for us to attract and support the next generation,” said Pentedemos.
