DNRT replaces annual barn bash with online fundraiser

Jul 23, 2020

The Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust is replacing its annual Barn Bash and auction for 2020 with a ‘Love a Trail’ virtual fundraiser.

Normally held in August at the Sylvan Nursery Barn, the bash includes an evening of food and drink from a dozen local businesses as well as a silent auction, live music and dancing.

Executive Director Dexter Mead said the DNRT decided not to hold this year's fundraising event in consideration for the safety of those who would attend amid the ongoing pandemic.

The annual auction primarily raises money for land conservation in Dartmouth.

According Mead, just a month after its creation, the online fundraiser has already met half of its $40,000 goal.

“All these people have been donating without getting anything specific other than knowing that they’re helping us,” he said. “It’s really great to know people have found physical and mental relief coming out to our properties.”
