Emogene M. O'Leary, 75

Emogene M. “Jeanne” (Baum) O'Leary, 75, of Dartmouth, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital.

She was the widow of Michael J. O'Leary, Jr. and daughter of the late Moses D. Baum and Leota (Cox) Taylor. She was the step-daughter of the late Arthur Taylor.

Born in Hickory Flat, Mississippi, she moved to New Jersey in 1960 before moving to New Bedford in 1961. Since then, she’s resided for many years in Dartmouth where she was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.

Jeanne was employed as a librarian at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth until her retirement. She was active in the NAMES Project Foundation.

Her family includes her son, Michael J. O'Leary, III of Dartmouth; sister Louise Wilson and her husband, Jon, of Tennessee; brothers Frank and James Taylor of Mississippi; two grandsons, Michael J. O'Leary, IV and his wife, Sophia, and Matthew J. O'Leary; four great-grandchildren, Christionna and Makayla O'Leary, Michael J. O'Leary, V, Isaiah Cortes and a great-grandson, Malachi, due in July; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Mark A. O'Leary and sister of the late Doyle Baum, Gilbert, Newell, Earl and Roy Taylor and Betty Sue Todd.

Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery.
