Fire District No. 3 welcomes four call firefighters
Four call firefighters are joining Fire District No. 3 after graduating from training on June 23.
Class #59—including Chad Gray, Devin Madeira, Jason Cadieux, and Brendan O'Connor of Dartmouth—completed 240 hours of training on nights and weekends before their graduation ceremony at Matthew Kuss Middle School in Fall River. These firefighters will join the 33 other members of District No. 3's call fire and emergency force.
"We are proud of the commitment and dedication of our new recruits and all of our on-call firefighters who volunteer their time to meet the national training standards for firefighters," said District No. 3 Chief Richard Arruda.
Dartmouth's on-call firefighters donate their time to train, but are compensated by the hour when called to respond to emergencies.
The 34 graduates in Class #59 represent 14 fire departments—Acushnet, Berkley, Dartmouth District No. 3, Fairhaven, Freetown, Lakeville, Mattapoisett, Raynham, Rehoboth, Rochester, Swansea, Wareham, West Bridgewater, and Westport.
