Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 responded to heavy black smoke at 69 Alden Avenue on November 10.

Firefighters arrived on scene to a porch fire, which they extinguished by about 8:20 a.m., said Assistant Chief Theodore Borges.

The report came in from a bystander around 8:09 a.m., said Borges.

Once on scene, the crew discovered a contained fire on the home’s backyard porch. No damage was reported to the interior or exterior of the home.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, Borges said.

While officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, Borges said that he suspects that a wooden furnace heating a pool in the backyard was involved.
