Flooding cancels summer concert show

Aug 5, 2021

Those hoping to hear the classic rock covers of Whiskey Affair at the Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Concert Series will have get their concert fix elsewhere.

Due to flooding at Apponagansett Park following the heavy rain Wednesday and Thursday, tonight’s rescheduled concert is cancelled.

“As much as we wanted to get the concert in tonight, it looks like the birds will be the only ones enjoying the park today,” a Facebook post from the Parks and Rec department read.

Concerts will resume Aug. 8 — weather permitting — with East Coast Alice: The Ultimate Alice Cooper Experience. Rain date is Aug. 9.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person at the gate, $4 in advance. Children younger than 12 are admitted free. A season pass is available for $30.

Advance ticket sales and season passes are available at the town Parks and Recreation Office.

The concert series runs through Aug. 25.
