Holy Week happenings in Padanaram
Easter is this Sunday, and Padanaram’s houses of worship have numerous services scheduled for Holy Week. Here’s what’s coming up:
Thursday, April 14
Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
For Holy Thursday, St. Mary’s will host a service at 7 p.m. at its building located at 795 Dartmouth St.
Mass of the Lord’s Supper
At 7 p.m., St. Peter’s Episcopal will hold its Mass of the Lord’s Supper with the Washing of Hands. Everyone who wishes to participate will be given their own personal towel as an additional safety measure. The couch is located at 351 Elm St.
Service at the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth
The Congregational Church of South Dartmouth will also hold its Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. at its building located at 17 Middle St.
Friday, April 15
Communion from the Reserved Sacrament
St. Peter’s Episcopal will host its Good Friday service at 7 p.m.
Stations of the cross at St. Mary’s
At 3 p.m. on Good Friday, members of St. Mary’s Social Concerns will reflect on the Stations of the Cross. Tradition holds that Christ died on a Friday at 3 p.m.
The Catholic Church will also hold its traditional Good Friday mass at 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 16
Vigil mass at St. Mary’s
For Holy Saturday, St. Mary’s will conduct the service which begins the Easter celebrations of Jesus’ resurrection. The service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Sunday April 17
Two Services with the Congregational Church
The Congregational Church of South Dartmouth will conduct two services for Easter Sunday. The first will take place at 6 a.m. on Round Hill Beach. The traditional Easter service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Middle Street location.
Easter Festival Holy Eucharist at St. Peter’s
At 10 a.m. Easter Sunday, music at all liturgies will be provided by St. Peter’s Contemporary Music Ministry with Praise & Worship Music (piano, drums, guitars) under the direction of Michael Moniz, Director of Music.
Three services at St. Mary’s
St. Mary’s will conduct three services on Easter Sunday at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and noon. There will be no 5 p.m. mass for the holiday.
