Humane Society hosts trick-or-treating
There were no tricks, but lots of treats at the shelter during the Southcoast Humane Society and Shelter's first trick-or-treating event.
Almost all of the shelter dogs posed for a photo, getting a treat or a toy for their cooperation. The cats got bubbles blown in their direction to keep their attention.
The kids could grab candy or a bubble wand, and got to see some of the adoptable or soon to be adoptable pets during the visit.
This was planned by two of the workers, Dorothy Lecomte and Emily Wheeler.
Lecomte is a member of the Southcoast Jeep club, who hosted a trunk-or-treat. She thought it was a good idea and wanted to bring kids to the shelter.
“They get to see the animals while they’re here,” she said, “They can find out about different things that we do throughout the year.”
Mark, age 8, showed up as a character from popular video game Five Nights at Freddies with Stitch, who was adopted from the shelter. He said he was enjoying the event, with his favorite part being getting to see some of the tiny kittens.
