Kids fill the street for treats
Hundreds of creatures flooded the Padanaram Village; fairies, witches, scarecrows and more. But there was nothing supernatural afoot- it was all children dressed up for Halloween trick or treating.
Every year, Padanaram Village hosts a parade where kids can show off their costumes and get some candy from the local businesses.
This year, hundreds of children showed up with their parents, grandparents and guardians. There were group costumes, single costumes, handmade costumes and exact replicas.
They all marched down Elm Street from the Yacht Club parking lot to Saint Peter’s Church. Firetrucks led the parade, blocking the street for the kids' safety. There were so many people, a number ended up parked in the street as kids paraded.
As they continued, the Dartmouth Arts and Cultural Center had the first ever “Enchanted Gallery.” Characters decorated the walls, and kids could decorate a bat cutout however they wanted.
Cooper Patnode, age 5, described the event as “good” and said his favorite part was walking around and getting candy.
