King Smoke Shop armed robbery suspect apprehended

Police apprehended a Woonsocket, Rhode Island man for allegedly robbing King Smoke Shop with a knife on Friday, July 18.

According to Dartmouth Police, Muhammad Sheikh, 40, of Woonsocket, entered the business on State Road around 6 p.m. on Friday brandishing a knife and making verbal threats he was going to kill the employees while slashing the knife toward them.

Police reported Sheikh allegedly removed the cash register, which contained approximately $700, from the counter before fleeing in his vehicle.

A “Be On The Look Out” alert was immediately issued to neighboring law enforcement agencies and the Providence Police Department subsequently located the suspect vehicle in their city and Sheikh was taken into custody.

Muhammad Sheikh will be charged by the Dartmouth Police Department with the following offenses:

  • Armed Robbery
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Threat to Commit a Crime (Murder)
  • Assault and Battery
  • Malicious Destruction of property
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
