Manuel D. Vieira, 74, of Dartmouth, died Sunday, August 4, 2019 at home surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Jose Da Rocha Vieira and Sofia (Loureiro) Vieira and husband of Cecilia (Sousa) Vieira.

Manuel was born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores and came to this country in 1969. He was formerly employed as a mechanic at Dartmouth Finishing, later retiring from American Flexible Conduit.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching soccer and was an avid Sporting fan, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family.

His family includes his wife, Cecilia Vieira; 2 daughters, Debra Couto and her husband Carlos of Dartmouth and Nicole Gomes and her husband Paul of Acushnet; 1 brother, Jose Vieira and wife Yvonne; 1 sister, Alechandrina Soares and husband Jose; 4 grandchildren, Corey Couto, Chelsea Geary, Carly Figueiredo and Nathaniel Figueiredo; several nieces and nephews.

His funeral was held Thursday morning, August 8. Interment in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
