Manuel A. Magalhaes, 83, of Dartmouth, formerly of New Bedford, died on February 8, 2020 at Our Lady's Haven following a period of declining health.

He was the widower of Angelina G. (Roda) Magalhaes and son of the late Manuel Celestino Magalhaes and Maria Aurora (Da Silva) Magalhaes.

Born in Mondim de Basto, Portugal, he immigrated to New Bedford in 1964 and was a parishioner of Our lady Of The Immaculate Conception Church.

Mr. Magalhaes was a well known area antiques dealer and furniture refurbisher. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching soccer, cooking and spending time with family.

His family includes his daughter, Gail M. Sargent and her husband, Dana A. Sargent of Dartmouth; his son, Mark C. Magalhaes and his wife, Elizabeth Magalhaes of South Dartmouth, his son Michael A. Magalhaes of Fairhaven; two brothers, Alexander Magalhaes of Dartmouth and Amandio Magalhaes of Portugal; two sisters, Grace Pereira of Portugal and Lurdes Leite of New Bedford; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Alexander, Garret, Kate, Ryan and Evan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Joaquim Magalhaes, Manuel Magalhaes and Maria Correia.

Visiting hours are at the Aubertine-Lopes Funeral Home on February 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. His funeral will be conducted on February 13, 2020 at 7:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in Our Lady Of The Immaculate Conception Church at 9 a.m. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery.
