Maria O. (Correia) DeMello, 76 of Dartmouth, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Paul J. DeMello, Sr.

Born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Ventura S. and Virginia (Viveiros) Correia. She was a lifelong area resident.

She was employed as a chef for many years at Café Estoril. Maria loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was everything to her. She was a kind loving generous person that was also known to be a bit on the adventurous side.

Maria is survived by her six children, Robyn Pontes and her husband Glenn of New Bedford, Gina DeMello of Dartmouth, Christine Leonardo and her husband Steven of Dartmouth, Kimberly Raposo and her husband Ricardo of Dartmouth, Paul J. DeMello Jr of Florida and Tracey DeMello and her companion Keith Levine of Easton; three sisters, Virginia Brunton of Dartmouth, Bernadette Ramos and her husband George of New Bedford and Gabriela Gagnier of TN; a brother Henry Correia of Dartmouth; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Correia.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 10:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at 230 Russells Mills Rd. in Dartmouth. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
