Martin D. Correia, 71 of South Dartmouth, died Sunday, February 10, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital following a lengthy period of declining health. He was the son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Perry) Correia and the husband of Ellen F. (Bouchard) Correia. He was born and resided in Dartmouth, and lived several years in New Bedford.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, attaining the rate of Storekeeper 3rd Class. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was formerly employed at Babbitt Steam as a manager until his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed dancing, especially western line dancing. He also enjoyed cooking and was considered a talented baker.

Survivors include his wife: Ellen F. (Bouchard) Correia of South Dartmouth; his daughter and caregiver: Ellen K. Baker of South Dartmouth; brother: Matthew Correia of Tennessee; sister: Jean Lavallee of New Bedford; grandchild: Kamryn Baker; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph Correia, John Correia, Michael Correia and Susan Correia.

Mr. Correia's funeral will be conducted Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 8:00 A.M. at the funeral home, with a service to be conducted at 9:00 A.M. Interment with military honors in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
