Matthew W. Hassey, 67, of Dartmouth died October 10, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Ernest P. and Helen W. (Webster) Hassey, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.

He was employed with the Post Office for 25 years. He previously worked for his father at Cape Cod Sportswear.
He enjoyed playing pool, chess, boating, scratch tickets and trips to the casino.
Survivors include his soulmate, Claudia Taveras of Bourne; his son, Matthew Taveras of Bourne; and his brother, Lance Tribe of Bellingham.
His services will be private.
