I-195 plane crash not a first for Dartmouth, Socata TBM 700
The plane crash that killed Thomas Perkins, 68, and Agatha Perkins, 66, on Monday, Oct. 13 is not the first time a plane has crashed in Dartmouth, nor is it the first time a Socata TBM 700 has crashed.
There have been a recorded 60 crashes of Socata TBM 700 planes since November 1991, according to the Aviation Safety Network, with the crash on Monday, Oct. 13 bringing the total to 61.
On Friday, Feb. 2 2007, a Socata TMB 700 headed to the New Bedford Regional Airport out of the Boston Logan International Airport crashed in Dartmouth during a missed approach, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. Both pilots had reportedly failed to maintain aircraft control and both pilots and a passenger died.
The most recently recorded crash of a Socata TBM 700 occurred on Saturday, Sept. 27 of this year when a pilot made an emergency landing near Alpine, Wyoming due to fueling issues, according to the Aviation Safety Network.
The cause of the Monday, Oct. 13 crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
