Memorial Day parade to feature transport trolley for veterans

Feb 27, 2023

Memorial Day may be three months out, but town officials are beginning to prepare for the annual parade.

This year, the Veterans Advisory Board and Friends of the Elderly will offer a trolley for Dartmouth veterans who would like to participate in the parade, but have mobility issues.

Veterans who are interested in signing up for this service can do so by calling the Veterans Services Office at (508) 910-1818 or Veterans Advisory Board Chair Chris Pereira at (774) 930-2632.

Space is limited in the trolley.

This year’s parade will be held on May 29, with things kicking off at the Town Landing on Gulf Road at 9 a.m.

The route will be similar to last year’s, with participants across the Padanaram Bridge and Causeway where the VFW Auxiliary will conduct the ceremonial wreath placement. After that, the procession will turn left onto Elm Street and proceed to the Elm Street Cemetery for a ceremony, with festivities concluding at the World War I memorial outside the old police station on Russells Mills Road.
