Mercer Fellouris, 82
Mercer Fellouris, of Stoneham and formerly of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Stoneham on Friday, December 12, 2025, with her family by her side. She was 82.
Born on December 10, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina, Mercer was the daughter of the late John H. Fellouris and Helen Botzis. She spent her childhood between New Bedford, Charleston, and Athens, where she cultivated her zest for life and an enduring love for her Greek heritage.
Mercer graduated from New Bedford High School in 1961 before pursuing her education with great enthusiasm. She was fluent in English, Greek, and French. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Simmons College and later attained her MBA from UMass Dartmouth. Her dedication to knowledge and her passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career at Bridgewater State University, where she served as a professor from 1983 to 2011. Mercer was not only an esteemed educator but also the Chair of the Department of Management Science and Aviation Science for 9 years, where she inspired countless students with her commitment, warmth, and positivity. In 1991, she received the distinguished Dr. V. James Dinardo Award for Excellence in Teaching to honor the significant positive impact she had on her students.
Mercer was a beacon of joy and adventure, always ready to embrace life to the fullest. Whether she was indulging in the vibrant cultures she encountered across the world or reading aloud to her grandchildren, she had a gift for making every moment special. Family meant everything to her, and she loved being a mom and grandmother more than anything. A member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Bedford, Mercer celebrated her faith, her family, and her love for Greece, a place that felt like a second home to her.
Throughout her life, Mercer demonstrated an infectious happiness and an appreciation for the simple pleasures—good food, lively dancing and music, a good book, and the company of loved ones. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy as an educator and a nurturing figure will continue to inspire those she touched.
Mercer will be missed deeply but never forgotten. Her life was a testament to the joy of learning, the love of family, and the beauty of human connection.
Mercer was the devoted mother of John Georgopoulos of CA and Lenna Finger and her husband Daniel of Melrose. Loving sister of Nikki Fellouris and her late husband Angelos Coursoumis of Greece, Mara Fellouris and her partner Marc Young of FL, and Harriet Snyder and her husband Robert of RI. Cherished grandmother of Alexander and Brianne Georgopoulos and Mercera, Drew, and Dustin Finger.
Visiting Hours were held at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, Dec.17 from 4-6pm. Funeral Service was at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10:30am. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
