No school but snow much fun
This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, kids spent their day off frolicking in the snow. There were snowmen built, sleds sliding down the hill behind Dartmouth Middle School and snow ball fights.
Snow started early Sunday morning, and continued into early Monday morning. By the end, Dartmouth got about 6 inches of snowman building snow.
Most schools in Dartmouth had a day off to remember the life of Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated for his activism and leadership during the Civil Rights Movement.
When it comes to what kids love about winter, three things can come to mind: sledding, snowball fights and snow.
Violet Smith, 9, said sledding and having snowball fights with her friend Ivy Hockert-Lotz, 11, [i think something is missing here]. Hockert-Lotz agreed, saying sledding and throwing snowballs at Smith were her favorite?.
Avarey Landgraf, 7, yelled “Snow!” in response to the question, before jumping onto her sled to slide down the hill. Jack and William Hurson, ages 8 and 5, agreed that snow is the best part of winter.
Lots of families flocked to the hill behind Dartmouth Middle School to sled. Some kids had sleds, some had tubes and some slid down on their backs and bellies. Ramps were constructed to make the ride even more fun.
School will be back in session Tuesday, but the snow, snowmen and sled tracks will remain.
Farm and Coast offered their patio for a snowman building contest. Due to construction the business was closed, and kids were invited to use the patio as a canvas to build snow creatures on.
