State Road crash update: 74-year-old woman dies in collision between bike and dump truck
A 74-year-old female cycllist died on Monday after colliding with a dump truck along Route 6 while cycling.
Around 11:53 a.m., Dartmouth and Massachusetts State Police officers were dispatched to the area of 832 State Road near the intersection of Route 6 and Reed Road after receiving a 911 call, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
When they arrived, they located a dump truck pulled to the right side of the road. The dump truck operator remained on the scene and cooperated with officers. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
A police investigation revealed that a collision occurred between the dump truck and bicyclist, according to the District Attorney's Office.
The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit is currently investigating, along with the Massachusetts State Police and Dartmouth Police. No further information is available at this time.
