Opinion: Regarding proposed housing developments

To the Editor,

Given that water rates have just increased an additional 13% I am a bit miffed that the town is entertaining allowing any more housing projects at this time. The article on December 18th regarding the immediate increase in water rates noted that Dartmouth had to buy more water from New Bedford than allocated in the budget. Why would we want to increase the needs for water and sewer that we cannot provide? Maybe a moratorium on any further building would enable the town to assess the water and sewer capacity/needs and then can move forward with intention so affordable water and sewer services can be provided to all Dartmouth residents.
