Quack attack: Rubber ducks on sale for annual Duck Derby

Jul 21, 2020

It’s time to get your ducks in a row: Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary is now accepting entries for the sanctuary’s 17th annual Duck Derby.

In advance of the derby, participants can sign up to “adopt” any number of rubber ducks. The ducks will be released into Allens Pond for the duck derby race on a date to be determined.

The first duck to cross the finish line will net its winner a free dinner for two, anywhere in the world — with airfare and two nights of lodging included.

Last year, nearly 6,000 ducks were released with the tide in a fundraising race on the property’s beach.

All proceeds go to fund the Mass Audubon’s programs and research.

Prices are $10 to adopt one duck, $20 for two, $25 for three, $40 for five, $100 for 13, and $200 for 26 ducks. The ducks can be named or purchased for someone else as a gift.

You do not have to be present at the race to win.

To enter, visit Mass Audubon's website massaudubon.org or call (508) 636-2437.
