The second presentation of Mass Audubon South East’s Summer Speaker Series will be hosted at the Stone Barn in Dartmouth on Thursday, June 27 from 7 p.m to 8 p.m.
Sara Grady, a Mass Audubon senior coastal ecologist, will discuss horseshoe crabs for International Horseshoe Crab Day.
According to Mass Audubon, the prehistoric creatures play an important role in the costal food web by supporting endangered migratory bird species. The protection of these crabs represents one of the organization’s three spotlight advocacy issues.
This is a “sea-shanty-filled program,” with Grady not only speaking, but also singing about the natural history and biology of the crabs along with their conservation and management.
This free event is made possible by the support of the Helen Ellis Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee.
