Second rally to ‘Save the Star Store’ to be held on UMass Dartmouth main campus
A month after the first rally, and nearly two and a half months after UMass Dartmouth announced its arts programs would leave New Bedford, students are rallying again for the historic building. This time, the protest will be held on UMass Dartmouth’s campus, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6.
Speakers will address the crowd, according to the event’s Facebook page, and local politicians will attend. The group will meet by the Campanile, the large tower on campus.
“We are fighting for the facilities we need to grow as artists. We are fighting for the facilities we were promised when we signed up to attend UMass Dartmouth. We are fighting for the New Bedford community that we are a part of, and want to maintain our presence in,” the event’s description reads.
