Town now offering curbside pickup of household items

Feb 16, 2022

Dartmouth residents can now request at-home pickups of their clothing, textiles, and other small household items, the Greater New Bedford refuse management district announced.

Through a partnership with the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, residents can now schedule a free home pick up by texting PICKUP to (508) 466-4590 or visiting BBBSFoundation.org.

Both the Town of Dartmouth and Big Brother Big Sister Foundation will receive a rebate from the clothing.

“We are excited to help the Town of Dartmouth residents give their clothing, linens, shoes, and other accepted items a new life. Donating clothing helps the environment, helps save taxpayers money and helps clean out your closets,” said Interim Director of Public Works Tim Barber. “We look forward to having a great mutually beneficial partnership for years to come.”

Along with at-home pickups, the Department of Public Works also has a bin outside its office at 759 Russells Mills Road.

Residents can drop off bagged clothing, paired shoes, blankets, towels, curtains, and soft fabric accessories

The bin will be available 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for holidays or other scheduled closures.
