Two dogs rescued from house fire on Arcadia Ave

Dartmouth fire crews made quick work of a kitchen fire which broke out at a home off of Route 6 on Dec. 11.

According to Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 Deputy Chief Ted Borges, crews responded to a report of a house fire at 1 Arcadia Ave. at 2:47 p.m. Crews quickly extinguished the blaze, which was confined to the kitchen of the two-story home.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, but fire crews did rescue two small dogs from the home. The dogs were administered oxygen and brought to the Emergency Vet Hospital in Swansea by the homeowner for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Fire District No. 2 also provided assistance at the scene.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at the time. It is estimated the fire caused $70,000 in damage.
