UMass library to host authors’ brunch this fall

Jul 14, 2022

After a two-year hiatus, the Claire T. Carney Library Associates’ Annual Authors’ Brunch is scheduled to pick up where it left off on Oct. 23.

The fundraiser is the 14th such brunch hosted by the UMass Dartmouth library.

This year’s featured authors will include Barbara Delinsky, Jacquelyn Mitchard, and local writer Steven Manchester.

Delinsky is a novelist whose works focus mostly on family drama, marital issues, and women in the workplace. She is the author of 19 New York Times bestsellers, sometimes using the pseudonyms Bonnie Drake and Billie Douglass.

Mitchard is a journalist and author who is best known for her first novel, “The Deep End of the Ocean,” which was an Oprah Winfrey book selection. However, all her novels have been bestsellers, including “The Most Wanted,” “Cage of Stars,” and “The Breakdown Lane”

Manchester, a native of Westport, is the author of several #1 bestselling novels, including “Gooseberry Island,” “Twelve Months,” and “The Rockin’ Chair.” His latest book is “Bread Bags & Bullies: Surviving the 80’s.”

Manchester will also be present at the Claire T. Carney Library book club meeting on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. to discuss his bestselling book, “Ashes.”

The authors’ brunch will be held at UMass Dartmouth’s Woodland Commons at noon on Oct. 23.

The cost of the brunch is $50 per person, or $45 for Library Associate members. There is also a 10% discount for tables of eight.

Reservations must be made by Oct. 7 and tickets can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/authorsbrunch22.
