“We started off pretty rough and then I think we kind of picked up steam as we went along,” said Head Coach Beth Arguin, “I’m proud of them for that. They didn’t quit, they didn’t give up.”
New Bedford High School beat Dartmouth 1 to 0 during their game on Friday, May 22. While Dartmouth did not win, they were able to stop New Bedford from scoring extra points.
“We’re making improvements, and I think you could see that through this game compared to the last time we played [New Bedford,]” said captain Olivia Raposa. In the last game, they lost 13 to 1.
Arguin stated that they accomplished two goals this season; to win, and to make tournament.
“Hopefully we can keep a few more games going,” said Arguin.
The game was close, but that didn’t stop the Dartmouth team from enjoying their final home game. They celebrated together each time they got an opposing player out, a teammate hit the ball or when preparing for a new inning.
“[What makes us unique] is our constant, just having fun,” said Rapoza, “We’re constantly picking each other up, making jokes, and I think we have a fun time and we play better because of it.”
