Veteran-led golf facility aims to build community in Dartmouth

Fairhaven’s Soucy family is teeing up to bring a new world of golf to 127 Faunce Corner Road.

This June, Normand Soucy, along with his wife Ann-Marie and son Garrett, will be opening Golf VX Boston, a golf entertainment facility centered around six high-tech simulators that feature virtual courses from across the globe.

The idea began with a conversation between father and son. A longtime golf enthusiast and veteran, Garrett told his father he was frustrated with the quality of simulators in the area.

“He said, ‘Dad, if you opened a place that offered something no one else has, it would do amazing,’” Normand recalled.

Inspired, Normand began researching and discovered Golf VX, a Korean-based company with more than 4,000 facilities abroad, but only one location in the U.S., a corporate flagship in Chicago. Once it opened, the Soucy family spent three days there experiencing everything from the gameplay to the menu.

“I didn’t leave there that day without purchasing the franchise,” Normand said.

What set Golf VX apart for them, he explained, was how realistic the technology made the game. He noted the ability to simulate course elevation and the efficiency of having an automatic tee.

Golf VX Boston will offer simulator rentals by the hour, competitions, birthday parties and full facility rentals. Monthly memberships will be limited to 90 to preserve open access. One tier includes unlimited play before 5 p.m., while the other allows full-day use — both come with food and beverage discounts.

Garrett will manage the facility. Normand will oversee the business side, while Ann-Marie supports behind the scenes.

“It’s not work when you love it,” Normand said, “which I’m really happy to give [Garrett] because he gave a lot for us in what he did in his life.”

As a veteran, Garrett understands the importance of building camaraderie and community. Working with the Wounded Warriors Project, he’s established a veterans league for the business.

Golf VX Boston is also partnering with local schools to offer off-season practice space for student golf teams. The app-based booking system will let customers reserve simulators and prepay in advance. Each simulator can host up to six players, with options for kids’ games and family-friendly activities.

“It’s a really, really nice place to go and bring your family,” Normand said.

He called Dartmouth the perfect location, both central and golf-loving, and expects business to boom especially during the off-season, when local courses are closed. He and his wife have already been operating a franchise yoga studio, HotWorx, located at 75 Faunce Corner Road, for the last year and a half.

“We're getting really, really close,” he said. “It's just a little detailed stuff now that we have to do. We're excited to bring this here. I think that people are going to love it.”
