William B. Nelson III, 79
William B. Nelson III, 79, of Lakeville and Dartmouth passed away on Monday, Nov. 2, 2020 in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Charlotte (Roderick) Nelson to whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late William B. and Mildred Ann (McGough) Nelson; William was a resident of Dartmouth for most of his life. He attended New Bedford Vocational High School and was employed as a machinist for more than 30 years at Chamberlain Manufacturing prior to his retirement.
William loved his family dearly, especially his grandson. He enjoyed spending his time with his wife Charlotte. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed boating trips to Cuttyhunk.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Thomas of Lakeville and her late husband Christopher Thomas and Ann-Marie Hinkley and her husband Richard Hinckly of New Bedford; a grandson, Kyle DeSouza and his companion Mariah Mosher of Maine; a great- granddaughter, Mackenzie DeSousa of Maine; his siblings, Carol Carlsen of New Bedford along with John Nelson and his wife Gilda of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Road, Dartmouth. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 595 Old Fall River Road. Arrangements in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
