Winter storm in full swing; here's the latest updates

With a winter storm in full swing, Dartmouth Week is staying on top of any breaking developments. Check this page often for an update on snow totals, traffic and public safety issues, and power outages.

11:00 a.m.

Residents experience thundersnow — a rare phenomenon that National Weather Service staff explained to us — as the sky bellows and lightning flashes.

12:00 p.m.

No power outages were reported.

12:02 p.m.

The National Weather Service upgraded a previously issued Winter Storm Warning to a Blizzard Warning.

12:05 p.m.

North Dartmouth resident Brian Sheridan debates whether or not to go kayaking. He decides against it.

Dartmouth Fire District No. 2 responding to 33 Pembroke Drive for reports of a large tree that took down wires, according to scanner traffic.

Fire crews on scene report a large pine tree is partially blocking the road. Eversource requested to the scene, per scanner traffic.

12:18 p.m.

A motor vehicle accident was discovered by fire crews in the area of Chase and Russells Mills Road, per scanner traffic. Dartmouth Fire District No. 2 cleared the scene with no medical transports needed, per scanner traffic.

Dartmouth resident Ray Quintin stops at Sunrise Bakery on his way home from work. He ordered cheese rolls and coffee, but there wasn't much of a selection in the normally bountiful bakery.

Most of the baked goods had been wiped out by waiting customers before the snow started, bakery employees said, adding that a line stretched out both doors.

12:25 p.m.

State Police reported spin-outs in the area of Faunce Corner Road and I-195.

12:32 p.m.

188 Eversource customers were reported to be without power.

12:44 p.m.

A tree was reported blocking part of the road on Flag Swamp Road, per scanner traffic. DPW was notified.

The streets in South Dartmouth are still populated with vehicles. Stores and restaurants — including Ying Dynasty, Cumberland Farms, and Dunkin Donuts — are still open.

12:47 p.m.

Eversource reports 197 Dartmouth Eversource customers without power.

1:01 p.m.

A tree was reported down in the roadway in the area of 588 Rock O' Dundee Road. Department of Public Works dispatched to clear. THe tree was reported cleared at 1:17 p.m.

1:16 p.m.

A tree was discovered down and in contact with power lines on Lucy Little Road, per scanner traffic.

1:32 p.m.

Eversource reports 453 Dartmouth customers without power.

State Police are working to clear disabled and spun out vehicles on I-195 in the area of the Dartmouth-New Bedford border and Route 140, according to scanner traffic.

1:35 p.m.

Dartmouth police responding to a motor vehicle accident at Slocum Road and Allen Street, according to scanner traffic.

1:47 p.m.

318 Dartmouth customers reported to be without power, according to Eversource.

3:03 p.m.

A motor vehicle accident was reported on the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth campus on Ring Road, according to scanner traffic. A car slid off of the road and is stuck.

3:24 p.m.

Reports of a car spun out at the intersection of Cross Road and Route 6 according to scanner traffic; Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 firefighter assisting.

4:17 p.m.

246 Eversource customers in Dartmouth without power, according to Eversource.

4:19 p.m.

Dartmouth police alerted to a motor vehicle accident in the area of 1010 Tucker Road, no injuries initially reported.

5:23 p.m.

A plow clears snow off of Tucker Road.

6:41 p.m.

Only 20 Eversource customers in Dartmouth are without power.
