The Dartmouth Police Department arrested an Acushnet man for an alleged theft on McCabe Street on July 13.

Police were dispatched at approximately 3:07 a.m. following a report of an in-progress theft of tires and rims from a 2013 Honda Accord. Police said Bret Silva, 20, of Acushnet was found hiding in a wooded area close to where the incident took place, after officers deployed a K-9 to track him down.

Silva was charged with receiving stolen property in excess of $250, malicious destruction of property in excess of $250, and possession of burglarious tools.
