Two arrested in connection with car break-in

Dartmouth police have made two arrests in connection to an alleged car break-in.

On Wednesday, September 28, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Dartmouth Police responded to the area of Flag Swamp Road regarding two males breaking into vehicles.

Upon arrival in the area, responding officers located Steven Doyle, 24, of 466 Union Street, New Bedford in the backyard of a residence, said police. At the same time that Doyle was located, a second unidentified suspect fled into the woods, said police.

As a result of the investigation that followed, Doyle was arrested and charged with several counts of breaking and entering and larceny, as well as possession of burglarious tools and the use of a motor vehicle during the commission of a felony, said police.

At approximately 10:05 a.m., Dartmouth P.D. received a call for a suspicious vehicle in the same area where Doyle ‘s arrest had taken place earlier in the morning. After locating the vehicle and conducting a motor vehicle stop, one of its occupants, identified as Shane Santos, 27, of 72 Adams Street, New Bedford, was arrested on outstanding warrants.

Upon arrival at Dartmouth P.D., Santos was positively identified as the second suspect who fled the scene earlier in the morning with Doyle, police said.

In addition to the warrants, Santos was charged with several counts of breaking and entering and larceny, as well as possession of burglarious tools and the use of a motor vehicle during the commission of a felony, according to police.

Both Doyle and Santos are also suspects in numerous other breaks in Dartmouth, according to police.
