Olinda P. de Medeiros, 82

Olinda P. de Medeiros, 82, of South Dartmouth, passed away on April 29, 2017 after a brief illness. She is the wife of the late Joao de Medeiros.

Born in Pilar Bretanha Sao Miguel a daughter of the late Francisco and Maria (Tome) Patricio, she grew up there and came to America in 1956. She lived in South Dartmouth for the past 57 years and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth.

She worked as a shop clerk for 15 years, but most of her life was devoted to her two daughters. Her life's focus was caring and tending to their needs. Olinda's family will always remember her style, grace and devotion. She also loved antiques and was skilled at refinishing furnishings.

She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Nancy and Patricia de Medeiros of South Dartmouth; nephews and nieces Teresa Fumo, Joseph V. Medeiros, John P. Medeiros, David P. Medeiros, Victor P. Medeiros, Elizabeth Laliberte and Salvadore M. Patricio; and many great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Patricio, Maria C. Medeiros, and Hilda Andre.

Her funeral will be May 3 at 9 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 783 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Allen Street, New Bedford. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-8 p.m.
