Friends Academy hosts free family yoga and mindfulness event

Dec 20, 2017

On Wednesday, January 10 at 6 p.m., The Encompass Community at Friends Academy in North Dartmouth will host a family yoga class and discussion about “Mindfulness In Education.” The event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public.

The night will begin with an empathetic meditation led by Friend’s Academy teacher and non-violent communication practitioner Jonathan Felix.

It will then move into a relaxing, fun yoga-flow for the whole family, led by Jennifer Potter, an Encompass Community Teacher and founder of South Coast Mamas and Babies.

Local homeschool parent Michelle Pelletier, author of the book, “Golden Child,” will discuss grounding and centering techniques. The evening will close with a discussion to offer insight on how to build a more mindful community. The group will learn ways to incorporate a present, yogic practice into the busy day.

This event is for parents, caregivers, and ages four and older (younger siblings welcome with supervision). It may be of interest to homeschool families, artists, educators, retirees and curious people of eclectic backgrounds. Bring a yoga mat and come dressed to move.
