Get your ducks in a row: the Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary Duck Derby is returning this August.

The 15th annual fundraising competition and event will be held on August 18. During the event, rubber ducks purchased by participants will be raced through the mid-day tied from Buzzards Bay into Allens Pond. Participants do not have to be present at the race to win.

The first duck to cross the finish line will net its owner a dinner for two with a twist: it can be anywhere in the world. The prize package includes round-trip airfare and two nights’ lodging to the chosen destination.

Rubber duck entries can be purchased online until August 17. One duck is $10, three are $25, five are $40, $100 are 15, and 30 are $200. Entries can also be purchased in person at the Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary Field Station, 1205 Horseneck Road in Westport.

The grand prize winner will be announced at a festival on August 19, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features food, educational exhibits, games and crafts, music, a silent auction.
