Seven Dartmouth runners wound their way through the classic 26-mile Boston Marathon Monday, Oct. 11.

The internationally recognized event was rescheduled from its traditional Patriots Day date this year because of the pandemic.

The runners from Dartmouth participating were: Lindsay Berube, Alex Boswell, Grace Gamache, David Hawkins, Rosa Pimentel, Molly Rouillard and Gwenyth Taradash.

Berube, 22, registered a time of 4:48:28.

Berube ran for the Mass General Hospital pediatric oncology team. She works for the adult oncology department. 

Through this work, she reports, “I am able to see the transformative work that every member of the Massachusetts General Hospital community does for its patients. Cancer is not an easy battle for anyone, let alone a pediatric patient and their family.”

Boswell, 27, finished with a time of 4:44:01. 

Boswell ran to support Cops for Kids with Cancer. 

That organization aims to ease financial burdens on families so they can focus their energy on helping their child defeat cancer and live a healthy life.

Gamache, 23, had a finish time of 4:45:04.

She ran to support the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.

The cause is close to her heart, she said, because as an applied behavior analysis therapist working with children on the autism spectrum she has seen the direct effect the foundation has on the autism community. “My fundraising efforts will allow the Flutie Foundation to continue their mission to help those affected by autism live a fuller life,’’ she said.

Hawkins, 57, logged a time of 3:39:43.

He returned to the classic 26-mile course after running his most recent “Boston Marathon” closer to home. 

He was one of 25 runners who participated in a virtual Boston marathon Labor Day 2020 that made its way through several SouthCoast communities. 

They were met with shows of support, including signs naming towns along the actual route.

Monday marked his second actual Boston Marathon. 

Pimentel, 52, finished at 5:56:28. Taradash, 21, logged a time of 4:06:30.

The two women ran to conquer cancer as members of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge.  

All money raised by the team benefits Dana-Farber’s Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research, which supports promising science research in its earliest stages. The Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge has raised more than $100 million for the Barr Program to date.

Rouillard, 31, is no stranger to marathons and that showed in her results. Her finish of 3:23:27 was the top finish among Dartmouth runners and placed her in the top 4,500 runners out of about 20,000 participants.

She has previously run the Boston race and other marathons. She also earned recognition for her running skills at Dartmouth High School and Bridgewater State University.

Her experience and talent qualified her to participate in the 2020 U.S. Olympic team trials.
