Town Meeting is next Tuesday
The first in person Spring Town Meeting since 2019 is less than a week away.
The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. in the Dartmouth Middle School auditorium. Town Meeting members, elected by voters of each of Dartmouth’s nine precincts, are eligible to vote on the 22 articles that make up this year’s regular and special warrants.
Members will be asked to create new positions for the town and schools, authorize the purchase of water from New Bedford, move ahead on the purchase of land on Russells Mills Road for a potential community recreation center, and approve a $96.8 million budget.
Also on the docket is the approval of approximately $3.4 million in capital plan spending.
Money will go toward road improvements ($1,809,500), water treatment upgrades ($200,000), and to purchase four Aqua Eye Scanners — a handheld sonar device that can identify bodies underwater up to an area of 85,000 square feet — for the Parks and Recreation Department ($24,000).
Members of the public will be able to observe proceedings on channel 18 in Dartmouth, via live stream on DCTV’s website at www.dartmouthtv.com, or finally on its YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/dartmouthcommunitymedia.
All articles were unanimously approved by the Select Board last month. For a full copy of the Town Meeting warrant, visit the town website at town.dartmouth.ma.us.
